Note: I'm fairly excited about this. My inner trekkie fangirl squealed over the Dr. Who and Star Trek crossover, so I'm excited about this as well!

PR: King, Hill, and Matheson Experience Road Rage, Out This Week in Hardcover
(Note: I reviewed this back in June.)
First collaboration by father and son presented in graphic novel form, along with the original inspirational source material Adapting the story alongside Hill and King is Chris Ryall, IDW’s Chief Creative Officer, and editor of Hill’s New York Times best-selling graphic novel series, Locke & Key. The respective artists on the two stories wereNelson Daniel and Rafa Garres. Available on Wednesday, ROAD RAGE will feature all-new introductions by King and Hill, as well as an all-new wraparound cover by Zach Howard and Daniel, and additional sketches and character designs from Daniel. “Talk about ‘riding with kings’,” said Chris Ryall, “getting to work directly with Stephen King, Joe Hill, and Richard Matheson was enough of a thrill, but then to have the finished stories so beautifully illustrated by talents like Nelson and Rafa made this all even more of a special project for me, and hopefully for readers, too.” The first part of the series, Throttle, tells the story of a motorcycle gang pursued by an unseen assailant in a big rig, but as might be expected knowing the talent involved, things aren’t exactly as they seem.Daniel, whose own collaboration with Hill and artist Howard, THE CAPE, was nominated for a 2011 Eisner Award, handles full art and colors for this portion. Afterwards, Duel presents the adaptation of the Matheson story that inspired Throttle, with artist Garra providing visuals for this thrilling conclusion. Road Rage has received much acclaim thus far. Geeks of Doom praised issue #1 saying, “Full of suspense, with the appropriate touch of horror-style gore, a bit of action, and a whole load of drama, it is a damn entertaining read, and an absolute page turner.” Comic Book Resources commended the final issue saying, “At their best, Ryall and Garres wonderfully put to the comic book medium to great use.” ROAD RAGE ($24.99, 120 pages, full color) will be available August 8, 2012 in comic stores throughout North America. PR: IDW Publishing Launches Jinnrise in 2013
Jabal Entertainment’s virgin series rides international notoriety to 2013 release
Combining the best of summer blockbuster fare with the weightier underpinnings of “quest myths” like Lord of the Rings, international student Andrew Marcus’ world is torn asunder when interstellar forces, the Kibrani, invade earth. With all hope seemingly lost, what is humanity’s last chance? A long-feared and forgotten race: the Jinn (otherwise known as “Genies”). Thus begins a quest that may answer the question: What is the nature of true power? With sequential art/cover art, inks, and colors from three of 2011’s top Kubert School graduates (Tony Vassallo, Carli Ihde, and Timothy Yates, respectively) and incentive covers from Flag Studios founder Daxiong Guo(www.flagstudios.com), JINNRISE is further proof of IDW’s ongoing efforts to expand the creative landscape of the comic industry. JINNRISE also represents IDW’s commitment to homegrown and international comic book talent. “I've long known Sohaib to be a clever, insightful guy in regards to pop-culture on his Fictional Frontiers radio show, and he's definitely proving that he can extend that inventiveness into graphic fiction as well,” said Chris Ryall, Chief Creative Officer of IDW Publishing and co-host of the bi-weekly segment “Ryalltime" on Fictional Frontiers. “JINNRISE has a very unique blend of old-world myths and modern-day fantasy and science fiction, and it's something I'm very happy to bring to IDW.” “As evidenced by their catalog of titles and talents, IDW’s dominant trait is diversity in storytelling. For this reason, they were the ideal fit for our genre-blending story,” commented JINNRISE creator and founder of Jabal Entertainment, Sohaib Awan. “Rather than a modern retelling of ancient fables,JINNRISE is a completely fresh spin on a fantasy staple. Most importantly, our story demonstrates the inherent potential of humanity when myopic beliefs are abandoned by all sides.” Visit IDWPublishing.com to learn more about the company and its top-selling books. PR:Good Charlotte Guitarist Sinks Teeth Into The Comics World
IDW Publishing to publish monster mashup
by Billy Martin and Brent Allen “This book has travelled everywhere I have on tour over the last few years,” Martin said. “I’ve had a light table and art supplies set up on countless busses and hotel rooms across the world.” Scheduled to launch in early 2013, VITRIOL THE HUNTER is co-created by Martin and Allen, and draws on the folklore and old monster myths prevalent in today’s society, twisting them into a macabre-style story reminiscent of classic horror movies crossed with futuristic fantasy. A self-proclaimed vigilante, Vitriol embarks on a mission to protect his homeland from the malicious monsters that have overtaken it, led by a brutal tyrant vampire. Additionally, Martin is producing a soundtrack inspired by VITRIOL THE HUNTER. Under the name Villain, Martin has been creating remixes, as well as writing and producing music for other artists. This will be his first official release of original music as Villain, showcasing his dynamic mix of electronic music with traditional film score. The special soundtrack for VITRIOL will be available for free download inside the comic. “Billy and I have done numerous writing projects together and this is definitely our best work to date,”Allen said. “Being from Baltimore, Edgar Allan Poe is a hero of mine, and I can only hope to step foot in part of his shadow on this project. We are both really excited to hear how the readers take to the world we created.” Set in the fictional city of Basilika in 2127, VITRIOL THE HUNTER chronicles our hero’s journey as he encounters werewolves, hordes of hellions, and other walking myths. This new horror series is slated to run for six issues. “The best part of working with Billy over the past several years has been watching him grow as an artist,” series editor Denton J. Tipton said. “You could tell he had tremendous talent from the start, but he’s really honed his style and absorbed the techniques of graphic storytelling. Taking our time with this series has really paid dividends, but we can’t wait for everyone else to see the results!” VITRIOL THE HUNTER #1 ($3.99, 32 pages, full color) will be available in early 2013. PR: IDW Blasts Off to the WILD BLUE YONDER!
Mike Raicht, Zach Howard, and Austin Harrison take readers beyond the clouds!
“I couldn’t be happier to continue my long partnership with Zach Howard,” said Chris Ryall, IDW’s Chief Creative Officer. “He illustrated the first comic I ever wrote, and has been producing some stunning work for IDW ever since. Add to that Mike Raicht’s clever scripting and the amazing colors of Nelson Daniel and WILD BLUE YONDER becomes much more than just an innovative concept.” In a wildly imaginative take on the post-apocalyptic thriller, Raicht, Howard and Harrison have created an eye-popping world of flying machines, massive, makeshift fortresses and a desperate war among the dwindling population left to the scarce resources on land. As mankind has become accustomed to the reality of a prosperous life only existing in sky bound territory, a desperate war has broken out for control and survival on the ground and high above it. “We've been striving to put Wild Blue Yonder together for a long time,” said Raicht. “It is so amazing that it is finally coming together. To be able to publish it at IDW, the same place that has produced some of my favorite creator owned properties, like 30 Days of Night, The Cape, and Locke and Key, is cooler than I can ever truly express.” “I honestly couldn’t be happier. It’s very gratifying to be drawing my own books full-time while publishing them through my favorite company. Good times!” added Howard. Clashing factions fight tooth and nail with primitive weapons in a thrilling, high-stakes world of tightly-knit families and deeply realized characters, all cobbling together a life in a world beyond imagination. “We’re excited for people to see the story unfold in the series,” said Harrison. “Everyone at IDW has been great and supportive. We’re thrilled to be working with such a great company.” Visit IDWPublishing.com to learn more about the company and its top-selling books. Press Release: Patrick Rothfuss's The Adventures of The Princess and Mr. Whiffle
Dark, macabre, humorous! This isn't your children's faerie tale!

From New York Times bestselling Author of the Kingkiller Chronicles, Patrick Rothfuss, comes the dark picture-book The Adventures of the Princess and Mr. Whiffle: The Thing Beneath the Bed
ATLANTA, GA January 11, 2012 - Sea Lion Books is proud to announce they will be republishing the critically acclaimed Patrick Rothfuss picture-book illustrated by Nate Taylor, THE ADVENTURES OF THE PRINCESS AND MR. WHIFFLE: The Thing Beneath the Bed.
Don't let the sweet cover and sugary title fool you, this is NOT a children's book. From the mad mind of New York Times bestselling author Patrick Rothfuss comes a dark tale not for the faint of heart. A story evoking memories of good old-fashioned faerie tales, the main characters are
the cute little girl princess and her outwardly adorable teddy bear, Mr. Whiffle.
The world seems wonderful and good for the duo, except for the monster lurking Beneath the bed.
THE ADVENTURES OF THE PRINCESS AND MR. WHIFFLE is an odd mix of dark classic storytelling, new age terror, and a macabre sense of wicked humor that leave the reader with three possible endings, each one being darker than the last, letting the reader decide how far they dare to go.
The final ending just might keep your teddy bear awake tonight, or at least start a stuffed animal rebellion. The reprint will include original bonus material and a Q&A with author Patrick Rothfuss.
"Sea Lion Books is very excited to be able to republish this amazing story that is destined to be a classic modern faerie tale," said Derek Ruiz, Executive Vice President and Publisher of Sea Lion Books.
THE ADVENTURES OF THE PRINCESS AND MR. WHIFFLE: The Thing Beneath the Bed will be released as a soft cover title in July 2012 and will retail for $14.99, (ISBN 978-0-9836131-5-2)
About The Author:
Patrick Rothfuss had the good fortune to be born in Wisconsin where long winters and lack of cable television brought about a love of reading and writing. Patrick had no idea what he wanted to do with his life, and changed his major to Undeclared despite the fact that he had been in college for over three years. After nine years as an undergraduate, Pat was forced by university policy to finally complete his undergraduate degree.... in English. After two excruciating years of grad school, Pat returned to teach at the University he had grown to love as a student. Pat continues to live in central Wisconsin. He still lacks cable television, and the long winters
force him to stay inside and write. The long winters inspired his NYT bestseller, The Killkinger Chronicles: Name of the Wind, and Wise Man's Fear. You can learn more about Patrick at his website: http://www.patrickrothfuss.com
